Missouri: Film explores homosexuality in religion
COLUMBIA — Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? These questions, from the Web site of the award-winning film, “ For the Bible Tells Me So ,” are the subject of a documentary highlighting five families and their experiences with homosexuality and struggles to reconcile it with the Bible. The film was shown by Allies in Action, an MU group raising awareness for issues related to sexual identity, at MU on Monday as part of Ally Week. The film, which has been shown at the Sundance Film Festival, was also shown on Sunday in Columbia by Open Door Ministry, a ministry of Missouri United Methodist Church.
