Religion, King and King, censorship and education

Religion has drawn a line in the sand when it comes to gay marriage.

Interestingly they claim exposing elementary children to books like “King and King” is inappropriate. It’s not that the book has explicit sexual connotations. It’s that the book shows two men who love each other and [gasp] illustrates the two kiss.

They will suggest any teaching about relationships to elementary children is inappropriate. But they won’t complain about heterosexual based books which do the same thing!

Let’s not stop there folks!

I would think there are many children whose parents are not religious.

Maybe we should stop all teachings about Christmas and Easter. After all, these are religious holidays. Religious holidays not supported by all.

I’m sure there are many childrens books which endorse heterosexual relationships. Even if they only do so indirectly.

How many childrens books show a man and woman (mother and father) in the book?

How many childrens books mention heterosexual marriage?

If we wish to stop the hate in our world, we need to start by changing our teaching methods.

For a teaching institution to disregard certain historical facts is a practice of censorship!

For instance, during my school years I never once heard there were homosexuals and gypsies killed in the holocaust. These facts were not taught. As a gay man, I take great offense to this.

This single fact proves our education system is guilty of censorship.

I suggest censorship, in the teachings of our young, borders on brain washing!
