Last Friday the GayTalk "words of the day" showed one example of how condemnation by society and family negatively affects those of us in the GLBTQI community. I was a senior in high school, it was 1973. For those of you who have listened to my personal story or watched my personal story video , you will know high school was a time when I was repressing my sexuality and sexual desires. The moral of todays story is one of regret. The message of todays story is; don't repress your inner self, in doing so you may miss out on lifes great rewards. Opponents have acted to smear the new teachers’ resources as an "authoritarian" attempt to override parents’ religious and moral convictions by requiring children to learn that gay individuals and families are normal. The high school course, Social Justice 12, is an elective, not a requirement; the teaching guide, titled Making Space, Giving Voice, contains suggested activities and readings relevant not only to gays and lesbians, but also to ethnic and racial minorities and students who are, for other reasons, perceived as "different." full article

CAMBRIDGE — Central Kings Rural High School students David Shepherd and Travis Price bought 75 pink tank tops and other pink items for students to wear after a new student at the school was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Two students at Central Kings Rural High School fought back against bullying recently, unleashing a sea of pink after a new student was harassed and threatened when he showed up wearing a pink shirt. http://thechronicleherald.ca/Front/858884.html .
