General Conway, Marines are Rooming with Homosexuals Now
Dear General Conway, I recently read an article that claims you stated separate quarters would be required for gay servicemembers if DADT was removed. Of course we all know the gay servicemembers currently exist, they simply are not allowed to state they are gay. This means servicemembers are currently in the same quarters with non-gay servicemembers. In other words, you are saying it’s not the issue that the servicemembers are gay. It’s the issue of people knowing they are gay. This strongly suggest personal bias is at play because the gay servicemember is still the same person. The gay servicemember has not changed. General Conway, in essence, you are saying ‘as long as they stay in the closet it’s ok but if they come out of the closet it’s not okay’. Again, I say to you, the individual does not change because your knowledge of them changes! You then go on to claim that Marines don’t want to bunk with gays because Marines are ‘very religious’.
