UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Uganda and Malawi
In Paris, France on December 10, 1948 the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It holds the Guinness World Record for Most Translated Document and is available in over 370 languages . Obviously, this is a document which came about due to the atrocities of World War II. All United Nations member countries are bound to the declaration. This is one reason the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay warned that the Ugandan kill-the-gays bill would bring Uganda into a “direct collision” with established international human rights standards aimed at preventing discrimination.
