To knowingly lie is almost always wrong. To do so from a position of religious authority is surely, even more wrong! After all, such people usually believe a person cannot possess morals without religious teachings. By making such a claim they suggest that they possess righteous morals because of their extensive religious background. In other words, we are not to question what they say because they possess 'righteous-religious-morality' and are above reproach. Such people are arrogant and believe they are superior. Factually speaking this is often a sign of inferiority! As the old saying goes; Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely! I had the opportunity to see a want ad recently on craigslist. The ad stated: Get Paid to go to Church Faith Perceptions is a program that is rapidly growing across the United States. We are a consulting firm who sends individuals into churches to evaluate their worship experience. To prevent any bias, churches hire us to find people to evaluate what it's like to visit their church for the first time. We have churches in the area to evaluate. We pay $35 for each completed assignment. Assignment consists of attending a church service and completing an online survey. The ad also provided a website and phone number. For eons mankind has endured a plague of pandemic proportions. Religion has forced itself upon the people of this earth ever since man created it. We still see religious wars to this very day! I recently noticed a few articles where religious leaders are complaining that religion is under attack. I actually laughed out loud when reading these articles. Gentlemen you are all correct. Religion was the attacker for eons and once people started to see that religion was evil, heartless and murderers, the roles were reversed. Courts Should Provide Equal Justice For All, Not Promote Religious Law, Says the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United. A federal appeals court made the right call in requiring a state judge in Ohio to remove a Ten Commandments display from his courtroom, says Americans United for Separation of Church and State. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today that James DeWeese, a judge of the Richland County Court of Common Pleas, ran afoul of the Constitution when he put up a display entitled “Philosophies of Law in Conflict” that contrasted the “Moral Absolutes” of the Ten Commandments with the “Moral Relatives” of humanism. “Judge DeWeese was improperly promoting his personal religious beliefs in his courtroom, and I’m glad the appeals court put a stop to it,” said the Rev. Star Parker is an extremely anti-gay black 'christian' women who recently wrote an article about the immorality of homosexuality. She seems to feel being a black christian gives her license to attack others based on her personal beliefs. Of course she would probably be the first to protest if others attacked blacks based on personal beliefs. She also recently lost an election for a congressional seat. I guess the people in her district are well aware of her biased and bigoted beliefs. But such failures are devastating for people like Star Parker because they really do believe they are on the right side. Being a gay man I’ve never been very religious. Quite frankly, most people in such faiths couldn’t handle my beliefs on spirituality. They need their religion in a box like a happy meal you can get at a drive through. I don’t believe in a ‘supreme being’ and I don’t like using the word ‘god’. So many people have pre-conceptions about certain words it’s difficult to get past them. I try avoiding them. Because it usually forces me to elaborate quite a bit when I do use them. Some ask me why my opinion matters. I think you’ll find many people who have died and been brought back from death, come back with ‘something extra’. I’m not saying this ‘something extra’ is the same for all people. In fact, I doubt it is. In my case I had knowledge that I was supposed to do more. My time wasn’t over for a reason. In a recent article from the Associated Press we read a little more about Rev. Tom Brock. Rev. Tom Brock is the man who was 'outed' as a member of a support group for Christians who struggle with same-sex attraction. The church has decided Rev. Tom Brock is telling the truth about never acting on his same-sex urges. Somehow this gives him a 'pass' and Rev. Tom Brock has 'done no wrong'. Rev. Tom Brock has admitted his attraction to men but claims he is a 57 year old virgin. He condemns homosexuality but claims he is not a hypocrite because he has never acted on his own same-sex attractions. Rev. It’s the 21st century and scientifically society has advanced in more ways then we could ever imagine. Unfortunately our humanity hasn’t. Instead our humanity has devolved. Everyone sees the vivid examples everyday, yet ignores them; countless people living in the streets, children starving, beaten, abused and murdered. Illiteracy is still rampant in many parts of the word. Teen pregnancy rates off the chart, much of which occurs in the most religious areas. As some of you may be aware, back in 2008, I started a Internet Radio Station called Gay Talk Radio. You might also be aware I have several blogs that I started a few years before Gay Talk Radio. There was a time I was scheduling a guest for Gay Talk Radio. He was a young Gay Christian who had done much bible study involving translation issues in the ‘clobber verses’ (verses of the bible used to condemn homosexuality). I contacted the young man, he checked his schedule and confirmed a date. Shortly before that date, after I had already been advertising the event, he contacted me, apologized and backed out. In his defense the young man, I believe, was in seminary, so evidently he was a bit overwhelmed with his schedule. However, he wanted to reschedule. Against my better judgment I agreed to a new date. There is a reason we see so many religious folks holding up children as an argument against homosexuality. We all know the liar who states “everyone lies”, in justification of their own lies. Or the adulterer who states “everyone cheats”. Speaking of adultery, let us not forget that the bible clearly states a man who marries a woman who was previously married is committing adultery. Years ago we’d often hear “a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty”. Most of us know that is no longer the case for the general citizenry of our world. In fact, it would seem the opposite is true “guilty until proven innocent”. Of course, this is unless you’re a politician, rich or know the right people; in other words, if you are influential. I exhibit, for an example, the current issue in Uganda. You know the issue about them passing a law making homosexuality a capital crime punishable by death. It even extends to the bizarre point of jailing citizens for knowing a homosexual without reporting them to officials. We’ve heard many examples of “officials” refusal to issue “gay” marriage licenses based on religious beliefs. I’m talking about areas where same-sex marriage is legal. I’ve always wondered if these “officials” ever refused a marriage license due to divorce, different religious beliefs or because the applicants were atheists? Since a marriage license is a legal state/government document the “official” is an officer of the state/government. Of course, all state and government officials are legally bound by the United States Constitution.
