Bruce Ward, The Ottawa Citizen The Bible says the meek shall inherit the Earth, but there was no trace of meekness in Faytene Kryskow and her passionate preaching yesterday on Parliament Hill. "We're going to turn Parliament Hill into the Wailing Wall," Ms. Kryskow told about 400 followers spread out on Parliament's front lawn. The prayer gathering is known as The Cry, a rally for fundamentalist youth who believe mainstream Canadian society is morally bankrupt. Ms. Kryskow, one of The Cry's leaders, urged the young people in the crowd to send out "prayer waves" that would incite a revolution against Canada's secular humanism. The rally began at Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau with music and prayer, followed by a "prayer march" across the Alexandra Bridge to Parliament Hill. As most are aware we are in rapidly changing times. Instead of stagnation we actually have progress. A more open-minded populace is coming of age. The term freethinker comes to mind and has been tossed around for ages. Thomas Jefferson was a freethinker. With so many in the younger generation being involved we need something new. I like to think of it as “The Dragnet Movement”. Because of the show “Dragnet” with Sgt. Joe Friday who used to always say “Just the facts ma’m”. Like Sgt. Joe Friday, we modern day Dragnetters just want the facts. We are smart enough to make up our own minds. We aren’t interested in your stories or fables. We will not tolerate any attempts to circumvent our own personal morals and beliefs (which might not be inline with yours). In the United States all religions are equal and none have more say than any other. Ie: some of you Christians need to get off your high horse! Mark Ostrum over at conservative voice feels two lesbians kissing in public forces him to accept immorality. According to Mr Ostrum it would appear just viewing an event forces a person to accept it. I say to Mr Ostrum, if his statement was true, all of us would be in grave circumstances. Once again, the religious fanatics prove why the majority of people disagree with their line of thinking. Of course he has a few bible quotes to back him up even though it has nothing to do with legality. Mr Ostrum, I will not reduce myself to your level of thinking. In other words, I don't feel your brand of morality is being forced on me when I see church services on tv or public preaching. I can change the channel or walk away if I don't like what I see. Mr Ostrum, you might want to look in a mirror, your insecurity is showing!
