I've ate, played, lived and had some of the most wonderful times of my life with them, and it didn't rub off on me! They didn't teach me to be a homosexual, they showed me how to love unconditionally. I was born straight as society describes the nature of it. Oh no, let us not put our children in the foster care of homosexuals for the fear they will make them homosexuals. Lets put them in good, straight family care, where they are put in cages, molested, given drugs and raped. Oh yes, we've all read the stories in the newspaper and seen them on TV! What the heck is wrong with all of you? Homosexuality does not rub off on people anymore than the color of our skin. Homosexuals are some of the kindest, caring people I've ever met on this earth, more than the many so called straight people I've known all my life. You Christians better read your Bible...

By GayNZ.com News Staff A statement issued this week to guide Catholics in the upcoming general election says children need the attention of both a mother and father, because "each contributes differently to their development", and suggests voters identify which "political views on same-sex couples conflict with this wisdom". Auckland couple Liz and Di Harding have been together 18 years and are the proud parents of 11-year-old boy-girl twins. Liz, believes current evidence clearly shows no difference in the outcome of children raised by same-sex as opposed to heterosexual parents – "so I am surprised by the Bishops' announcement," she tells GayNZ.com. "Maybe the Catholic Church are basing this statement on studies other than those found in mainstream research.It seems to me that they have some odd ideas from time to time anyway, such as not using condoms or birth control. I don't take much notice of such statements, nor do many people I know....

A family, traditionally, has meant man, woman and child. Not any more, as children raised by gay and lesbian couples are on the rise internationally. Laws differ from country to country and even state to state. In the US, Florida is the only state that bans anyone who is a "homosexual" from adopting a child. Utah does that indirectly by restraining unmarried couples from adopting. Washington DC and 11 states, including California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, New Jersey and Vermont explicitly state that sexual orientation cannot prevent gays and lesbians from adopting. Across Europe, in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Sweden same-sex couples have been given the right to adopt a child. Australia, Canada, South Africa and Israel are some of the other countries to allow it. The American Psychological Association in its Resolution on Sexual Orientation, Parents, and Children in July 2004, said, "There is no scientific evidence that parenting effectivenes...

I have a comment about the following article: This "scarred child" is a religiously involved parent. Now that her father is dead, she's written a book about the harm to her being raised by an "overtly gay man". She's also on a speaking tour. What's even more interesting is the description of her feelings of (due to being raised by an overtly gay father) "insecurity, depression, suicidal thoughts, dread, anxiousness, low self-esteem, sleeplessness, nightmares, and sexual confusion" as if they are feelings most other children don't experience. Jennifer Chrisler knows the score on gay families. The mother of two runs Family Pride, an organization that provides support and secures rights for gay families. When Chrisler took her twin sons to preschool, she picked a liberal, private school in downtown Washington.
