Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry on Friday vetoed a measure co-sponsored by state Rep. Sally Kern that aimed to protect students from discrimination for expressing their religious views, the Tulsa World reported.
Critics of the measure worried that it would allow students to disregard science and history lessons because of conflicting religious teachings.
In his veto message, Henry wrote Friday that students are already allowed to express their faith through prayer and other activities during school.
