Lutheran church in Houston is about to ordain lesbian pastor in violation of denomination rules

Some of this is confusing, but here are the basics: Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, is scheduled to ordain Lura Groen as its pastor on Saturday. She'll be the first openly gay pastor at an ELCA church in Texas.

It's a "reconciling" congregation with a long history of support for GBLT causes and sees that as a theological calling.
