Video: Prop 8 Protest at Mormon Headquarters

Thousands marched in downtown Salt Lake Friday night to protest the passage of California's Proposition 8. Like their counterparts in California, the Utah protesters targeted The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It began with a rally that police tell us grew in size from dozens to somewhere between 2,000 and 5,000 men, women and children carrying their signs around Temple Square.

Man faces possible excommunication from LDS Church for supporting same sex marriage

Reported by: Chris Vanocur ABC 4 News HASTINGS, Neb. (ABC 4 News) - Andrew Callahan is a member of the LDS Church but he thinks not for much longer. Callahan has been speaking out against a gay marriage ban on the California ballot and Callahan now faces excommunication. He says, "We're just wrong and we need to change that and I'm not going to stop when they excommunicate me and I am not going to apologize and beg them to keep me a member of the church." Biblical clarification regarding homosexuality

There is no word in biblical Greek or Hebrew that is equivalent to the English word homosexual. The 1946 Revised Standard Version (RSV) New Testament was the first translation to use the word homosexual. There is no word in biblical Greek or Hebrew for “sodomy” or “sodomite.” A Sodomite would have been simply an inhabitant of Sodom, just as a Moabite would have been an inhabitant of Moab, though the word sodomite does not show up in biblical Greek or Hebrew. Any translation of the Bible making use of the words sodomy or sodomite are clear interpretations and not faithful translations. The Bible really does not fully address the topic of homosexuality. Jesus never talked about it. The prophets never talked about it.
